Rose Quilt Patterns In News Wonder Package
By EDITH B. CRUMB.

INCLUDED in The Detroit News Wonder Package—and have you sent or called for yours?—are the two quilt patterns as shown in the accompanying illustration. And wouldn’t you like to sit right down and start to make on? If you are a lover of quilts you will not be able to resist this fascinating design, for it is very simple, effective and interesting to make.

Just think how lovely either of these patterns would be in two tins of rose, green and yellow for the center! These are both appliquéd and just ideal for pick-up work.

CUT-OUT PATTERNS. Out of over 800 patterns (on 12 sheets, each of which measures 24x24 inches), the quilt patterns are the only ones which are not to be transferred, but cut out and used for patterns instead. This method is easier in quilt making than transferring, for two many different kinds of material are necessary and a “whole-sale” transfer idea would be impossible.

If you need a new bedspread, what would be more charming than one with a white or cream background with these roses in rose, yellow or apricot and green? You will notice that there are borders for both the “Rose Wreath” and the “Rose Cross.” It would be difficult to make a choice between these two designs, and you would not be disappointed with either, and probably want to make both. You may use plain chambray for all of the appliquéd design, or you may use fine checked ginghams, tiny polka dotted materials.

DON’T’ MISS THIS! That you will want this wonder package goes without saying for to deprive yourself of it would mean that you would lack that handy little package of ideas that will last you a lifetime and answer so many purposes that it will soon become an indispensible part of your household equipment. Think of it—although there are said to be over 800 separate patterns in this wonder package, each of these may be transferred 12 or more times, thus giving you several thousand transfers, still leaving a pattern which may be used with carbon paper.

HOW TO TRANSFER. Do you realize how easy it is to transfer these patterns—merely by applying a small amount of water to the back of the pattern and rubbing the bowl of a spoon over it? This does away with the bother of a hot iron. A very important thing to remember is that three patterns may be transferred to wood (unfinished, painted or enameled), glass, metal, cloth, paper, pottery, etc. Once you become acquainted with the possibilities in this package, you will consider yourself very fortunate to have one.

IDEAL GIFT. Perhaps you know of someone who would be delighted to have one of these for Christmas. It is an ideal Christmas gift, especially for the convalescent—man, woman or child—for there are designs suited for every need, and inasmuch as they are for painting as well as embroidering, men and boys will welcome them also.

You know, of course, that if you wish the Wonder Package mailed to you (coupon for your convenience). It will cost 75c but if you wish to call for it the price will be only 65c. These may be called for at the main building of The Detroit News, Lafayette and Second; The Detroit News Public Service Bureau in the Majestic Building or the General Motors Building. Do not fail to get yours right away while the supply is ready to hand right out to you so you can get started on your Christmas gifts.

Quilt Club Corner
I WONDER if you could find a corner in your Club for a beginner, as I have never made a quilt in all my 37 years. I have wanted to start one for some time, but did not know how to go about it without a frame, but after reading the letters in your Corner Club of Sunday’s News. I noticed that some of the ladies make them on the floor. I think that is a splendid idea. So won’t you please send me the Dresden Plate quilt pattern? Will let you know how my quilt comes out. MRS. W. E. P.

You should have your Dresden Plate pattern by this time, Mrs. P., and am so glad that you have decided to join the Club and make a quilt. It is gratifying to know that the suggestions of the quilt-makers are doing so much good. They will be happy about this and look forward to knowing how your quilt turns out.

MY daughter-in-law and myself wish to join the Beauty in the Home Quilt Club.

Last year we completed a Dresden Plate, appliquéd quilt and a child’s quilt, and pieced two other Dresden Plates, two Flower Garden quilts, and this year we have one Flower Garden and a child’s quilt completed and we are going to quilt the two Dresden Plate quilts before Christmas for gifts.

We used light green for strips and peach for the back of our Flower Garden, making scallops around the edge and quilting a feather around the scallops.

You may use our names and addresses if you wish. We would be glad to know of some one in our neighborhood who is interested in quilting.
MRS. C. AND MRS. M. VOELKER.

Thank you so much, Mrs. V., for letting your name and address appear. Hope you will find some quilting friends. What very busy people you and your daughter-in-law must be, and how very generous of you to give away two finished quilts. I hope they will be appreciated.
