Sarah Gardner Leslie

Michigan; United States

The Flower Basket quilt was made circa 1880 in the Dearborn, Michigan area by Sarah Gardner before her marriage to William Leslie in 1882. Her mother, Elizabeth Gold Gardner, also was a quiltmaker. The photograph taken of the young couple when they were married shows Leslie in her wedding dress, which was purchased by selling the family cow.
