Black Diaspora Quilt History Project
We are James Lauren Beauty, Janda and Rebecca Lipker. James Lauren Beauty is a Black American mother and daughter duo making traditional, tapestry/panel, and art/wall hanging quilts in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Our quilts average 250,000 to 500,000 plus stitches and 10-30 thread color changes per tapestry/panel painted quilts, and some of our most detailed works have ranged into the low millions of stitches per quilt. Our mission statement is that we want to be a part of your next big memory. And we do that through our method of Quilted Panel Painting, for the non traditional quilts. This involves not just tracing the lines in a panel with a long arm machine, but rather we try to add texture, depth, dimension, and emotions to pieces that previously were not there. Our quilts have been exhibited at the National Quilt Museum , on tv, local newspapers, Paducah Life magazine, local galleries, and we have shipped commission quilts nationally and internationally.
