...The wallpaper may have a cream background and pale floral design in blue green, yellow and apricot, the woodwork being furnished in blue green.

For the floor covering there may be plain blue green carpeting.

For the draperies, light rust damask would be very effective, these being lined with ecru sateen, edged in blue green chintz hung from beneath a painted cornice board, apricot throught the center with blue green moldings on each edge.

For the covering of the sofa an apricot ground flowered chintz piped in blue green would be very attractive, plain rust rep being selected for the covering of the wing chair.

A pair of pillows covered in violet satin for the sofa or love seat and a small upholstered chair with a covering of violet velvet would lend that necessary note of contrast.

The lamp shades should be very simpley made with yellow as the predominating tint.

Another scheme includes wallpaper with a beige background with floral design in old blue, rose and a touch of green and yellow.

The woodwork may be beige, the floor covering medium blue and the draperies of the same shade of chintz edged in deep rose.

The sofa may be covered in rose rep, the wing chair in beige ground tapestry and the small upholstered chair equipped with a slip covering of medium blue ground chintz with design in which deep rose predominates.

Horoscope Quilt Pattern No. 4
THE fourth pattern of the Horoscope quilt is on a leaflet and waiting for you to send for it. This pattern is Taurus the zodiac sign for those born between April 21 and May 21; and it is a very simple and attractive design to applique.

Just send your request for this leaflet to the Beauty in the Home Department. The Detroit News, enclosing with it a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

If you prefer, you may call for this leaflet at The Detroit News Public Service Bureau in either the General Motors Building or the Majestic Building where it will be given you free of charge.

Quilt Club Corner.
AM I TOO late to enroll in the Beauty in the Home Quilt Club? I have finished the Flower Garden quilt and have the top of the Dresden Plate ready for quilting.

My Flower Garden quilt is just beautiful. I put it together with green and I did not applique the flowers on but button-holed them instead. Now I would like to start the Horoscope quilt.

No, indeed, you are not too late to enroll in the Quilt Club.

Your Flower Garden quilt must be very lovely with the button-holed flowers; and now you will be busy quilting your Dresden Plate quilt. Don’t wait too long to get started on your Horoscope quilt, because you will want to keep up with the rest of the members and try to get one pattern done a week.

I AM working on the stars of the Horoscope quilt and have had quite a time getting the points just right, but think I will get along O. K. As a member of you Club, I am, sincerely,

It just takes a little patience, doesn’t it, Mrs. P., to get those star points just right? After the first block or two you will probably have a certain “knack” about it so that it will not be a bit difficult. Hope so. Let us know, please.

WILL you please tell me where I’ll get the patterns for the starts on the Horoscope quilt?

Since the State Fair I have made the Dresden Plate and would like very much to get the pattern for the Double Wedding Ring quilt.

I enjoy the helps and letters in the Beauty in the Home column and get much benefit from them.

The pattern for the star on Pattern No. 2 of the Horoscope quilt is the same pattern that will be used for all of the stars throughout the quilt.

The Double Wedding Ring quilt pattern will be sent to anyone upon receipt of their request accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

I HAVE never made any quilts, but now I am working on the Lucky Four-Leaf Clover pattern.

This Quilt Club is certainly interesting and I hope I can get my quilt ready for the contest.

If you have a good start on that quilt now, Mrs. M., there is no reason why you cannot get it completed in time for the exhibition.

I DID NOT think I would have time to do this quilt, as I have two or three on hand now waiting to be quilted; but I cannot resist the offer of a pattern of a Horoscope quilt. I am especially interested in horoscopes.

I WOULD like to join the Quilt Club. I have made the Dresden Plate quilt and one of the Four-Leaf clover patterns, also one of the Jacob’s Ladder—from the Detroit News quilt patterns.

No doubt (word unclear) what you may become a member of the Quilt Club with all those quilts to your credit. Please tell us what colors you used for the clover pattern.

I AM going to use the Horoscope patterns for the tops of cushions and birthday presents. I think it will be a nice idea to have a cushion with one birth sign on it. Don’t you?
