Brother-Sister Quilts-Leaflet No. 2

By Edith B. Crumb.

This demure little miss is the pattern for the first block in the Sister quilt. The general directions for this quilt are included in Leaflet No. 1 of the Brother-Sister quilts. If you wish these quilts for cribs, just omit the wide figured border and they will fit nicely.

Be sure that all of your materials are fast color and of the same character as the white material you are using for the background of the applique blocks.

In selecting the material for this doll, use sun tan gingham for face, legs and arms; figured material in blue for the dress and hat brim, dark brown for the shoes, medium brown for hair, pale pink for the hat brim, collar, cuffs and socks, and orange for sole of shoes.

Cut the cupboardd pattern into its parts as described in Leaflet No. 1, but pay no attention to the dotted lines at this time as they indicate the amount allowed for underlapping. Allow one-eightn inch on all sides. Baste raw edges under except at dotted line points. Baste face in place, then hair, then brim, baste left arm, dress. Slip legs in place and baste. Baste right arm, socks, slippers, sole, collar and cuffs and brim of hat.

Make a second block just like this one and put away for use a little later. The name of this dolly is Mare Estelle.
