Brother-Sister Quilts-Leaflet No. 13

By Edith B. Crumb.

After your pieces are cut and the edges turned in for this frisky little horse, they may be applied to the block in this order: First the legs, then the tail, mane, rocker and body and, finally, the harness, collar and saddle.

There should be a second horse cut from the same materials as this one and applied on the second white block.

Now you are ready to seam the strips. The first and second ones have already been described in Leaflet No. 9, and here is the order of the third - Dog, striped block, airplane, striped block, hobby horse.

The order of the fourth is striped block, tree, striped block, tree, striped block.

Of the fifth - Boat, striped block, train, striped block, dog.

Of the sixth - Striped block, tree, striped block, tree, striped block.

On the seventh - Horse, striped block, airplane, striped block, drum.

All of these strips should be so pieced that the striped blocks alternate with the appliqued ones.

The finished center should be 30 1/2 inches wide by 42 1/2 inches long. The half stitches will be used in the two seams necessary to put the center and the side and end strips together. Directions for other parts of this quilt top will be found on Leaflet No. 1.
