Old Woman In The Shoe

Just see all of the children that this old woman had to put to sleep in a shoe every night, and think what a lot of fun you are going to have making this block.

You may work this out in an etching stitch in red, blue, green or any plain color; or you may make the whole block in applique.

The shoe may be brown, the roof blue and the little chimney red. Some of the children should have black hair, some brown and some yellow, of course.

This is also attractive is a combination of applique and solid embroidery. The hair may be embroidered, this also being used for the outline of the shoe and children around the applique, if you wish it this way.

See general directions leaflet, giving yardages and measurements of blocks, joining strips and borders of quilt.
