Mother Goose Quilt Series-Pattern No. 10
My Son John

Just look at that lazy boy. He went to bed with his stockings on and one shoe off and one shoe on. He'll probably be sorry when he wakes up; but right now he is having such a good snooze he doesn't care one bit about his shoes and stockings.

This may be worked out in an etching stitch in red, blue, green, or any plain color; or the whole block may be made in applique.

Instead of just a plain bed covering, why not be original and put a little patterned quilt over him? His bed should be maple brown, his pillow may show blue and white stripes (small) in the open end there to represent ticking, and his cap may be red. His striped stockings may be all colors.

This may also be worked in a combination of applique and solid embroidery, using the latter for his stockings, cap and bed posts.

See general directions leaflet giving yardages and measurements of blocks, joining strips and borders of quilt.
