Pretty Sunbonnet Quilt by Girls of Scout Troop No. 19

Every bit of this quilt was made by hand by the girls in this picture. They belong to Girl Scout Troop No. 19. The quilt will be given to the Baptist Children's Home. Left to right they are Verna Bennett, Margaret Loos, Mary McPhee, Betty Morre, Mary Anna Sattler, Mrs. Lenora Klingelsmith (leader), Grace Dunca, Marian Loos, Nancy Bierwirth, Elaine McRobbie, and Mary Duncan.

Baptist Children's Home Will Receive This Quilt
By Edith B. Crumb

When it comes to quilt making you'll have to congratulate the 10 members of Girl Scout Troop No. 19 for being so industrious. They made every bit of this quilt by hand. They were helped just a little bit with the joining of these blocks and the Nine-Patch corners, but no one helped them with the quilting- and you should see the neat, even stitches.

Each of the girls took a block home and made I, which makes the quilt very interesting for each block has an individual color scheme. The girls furnished the prints for the little bonnet Babies and the background lining and filling were bought with money from the treasury.

When the quilt was ready for the frames, the girls came to their club meeting which takes pace in Grand River Avenue Baptist Church, under the leadership or Mrs. Lenora Klingelsmith. There they spent part of the session in quilting, and now that the quilt is finished, it is to be presented to the Baptist Church Home.

We know that this will be appreciated by the little children out there for we have been out there for we have been out to see them an they have many quilts which they greatly admire. We know just how much they will welcome this one, because it is so pretty and just what a little girl would love to have on her bed.

Now that the quilt is done, Mrs. Klingelsmith hopes that the girls will start another one; and so do we, for we would like to have an entry in the quilt show from Girl Scout Troop, No. 19. Perhaps they will visit the show all together. We hope so, for we would like to see Mary Ann Sattler, Grace Duncan and Marian Loos in their uniforms. Right now, as you will notice, they are tenderfeet, but as soon as they get their information they will be full-fledged girl scouts.

With so many interesting projects, we are happy to know that the girls found quilts interesting enough to spend a whole year on one.
