Covid-19: Quilters Respond

During the national emegency that is Covid-19, quilters have mounted a heroic effort to supply masks to essential workers, family members, and friends all over the United States.

Quilters all over the world are making masks. With the shortage of Personal Protective Equipment, these masks are a life line to millions of people trying to protect themselves from the Corona virus. While hospitals and medical professionals have been (rightly) reserving medical grade masks, cotton quilt fabric masks have proven to be highly effective in slowing the spread of the virus. Patterns and YouTube tutorial videos are providing the instructions and quilters are providing the fabric and sewing skills. The Quilt Index wants to capture this moment in history where quilters and sewers are making a huge contribution to the health and well-being of human kind.

If you have a story to share, we have an easy online portal (just click here http://quiltindex.org/beta/COVID-19/).
