Essay:
"An artist could interpret any image or scene in a variety of techniques. As a painting major, I drew, painted, collaged, used watercolor, acrylic, and oil. When I started using fiber and fabric for my art forms, I felt so much more satisfied with the results. I can draw with the shapes and edges formed by the fabric, the threads, and embellishments available to art quilters. This piece is about mannequins and the lives they lead when we are not around. There are more designs, colors, attitudes of sculptural design, and shapes of mannequins out there than we first Because mannequins and dress forms are such an integral part of the fabric and clothing industry, I want to interpret them in an art quilt. This is one of a series of ten. I took pictures of these 'girls' in New Orleans, Louisiana. I am intrigued by their gestures and poses."
