Lois Moldenhauer worked in the grocery department of the "Wirth's Department Store" in Cedarburg. She saw the pattern in the "Milwaukee Journal Newspaper." She immediately thought it was wonderful and took it home. She paid 15 cents for the newspaper.

Opa (Mr. Gilow) made a quilting frame that is still being used by the family.

Erna and Fred Moldenhauer raised two daughters and a niece Patrica Webster, who also liked to quilt. Fred was a mason/bricklayer and basket weaver. Erna made another quilt with both of her daugters. It has been documented in the Quilt Index under her name at #172.
