One of the original 101 quilts donated by Eugenia Mitchell of Golden, CO, to start the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum. This quilt is hand and machine pieced and appliqued of solid, striped, flowered, geometric, and knit fabrics in blue, off-white, and gold, with a gold border, and embroidered and crocheted decoration. The batting is a sheet blanket. The binding is the top folded over and hand attached with mitered corners. The quilt is hand quilted around the pattern pieces and with geometric and floral patterns. The quilting is even at 4 stitches to the inch, done with cotton thread. The backing is machine pieced cotton. Ownership/History: The star blocks were made by Shirley Coffelt. The other blocks were made by various unknown artists. Quilted by Eugenia Mitchell for her 77th birthday and signed by her friends from Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, Nebraska, and Colorado.
