This covelet was created as a raffle prize to earn funds for the war effort in 1940. Over 200 local families purchased squares for $1. Names including friends, neigbours and even a few farm dogs were included with embroidered flowers. The coverlet was sold by auction to Gordon and Dora Cohoe. Their daughter Linda Helfrich gifted it to the Bearspaw Historical Society The coverlet went missing from the Heritage Room of the Bearspaw-Glendale Lifestyle Centre. Poster were put up requesting information. It was eventually recovered in a box of Christmas decorations.
