The wool was taken off the sheep back and cordid into rolls by hand and then spun into yarn on a spinning wheel. and then woven on a hand loom. the chain was cotton homemade and filling wool. How it was drawn to make the square, or design I am unable to tell. The dyeing was done, the blue with chamberlie (spelling?) and indigo blue in the sun. It took days to do the colering (coloring?), and the other was analyne. The color was made by a sister of your grandmother JJermima Kessel. that is it was woven by her she has been dead 59 years and the best that we can make out the cover is at least 50 years old. H.E. Kessel\n\npage 2:\n\n\tTwo Bed coverings:\n\n\tA. Wool coverlet with white, blue and red geometric design. With it is a written history penned by Houston E. Kessel (died ca 1945 aged 70 years old), foster grandfather of Paul Lewis, dated Dec. 5, 1934. The coverlet was woven by his (Houston's) father's sister, Jemima Kessel, ca 1854 on Parchment Creek between Ripley and Cottageville near Evans, W.Va. in Jackson county, W.Va.
