Strippy
Location Made: Indiana (IN) United States
Contruction: Piecing, Each of the four long strips is itself pieced of four rectangles of striped fabric in an alternating pattern of narrow grouped stripes; red, dark blue, light blue, red, light blue, dark blue, and red, followed by a single stripe as wide as the group of narrow stripes but in an overdyed blue-green. Pieced in between these four rectangles are three sections made of three groups of the narrow stripes alternating with a wide dark blue stripe instead of the blue-green. They form three horizontal bars across the quilt, intersecting with the three narrow vertical bars. These bars end before the end of the quilt, which is pieced of five approximately equal rectangles of the blue-green striped fabric. The stripes are carefully matched throughout except for a bar on one side and an end rectangle second from the corner. These narrow bars are cross-striped in one-inch sections of indigo and madder red, with a vertical shadow stripe in a rich orange-yellow.
