Courthouse Steps

This was an April 2024 project I taught in the Mod Squad Rebels Special Interest Group of the Palo Verde Patchers, Sun City West, AZ quilt club. The Courthouse Steps version of the log cabin pattern has perfectly symmetrical strips on alternate sides of the center square so each row of strips resembles the steps of a courthouse. It is not made on a foundation.

Courthouse Steps (and 3 variations) was published by Taylor Krz, a modern quilter, quilt designer and Zinester.  The directions and patterns were published in a free Mini Zine: https://www.toadandsew.com/blogs/news/courthouse-steps-zine

Definition: ZINE (n): pronounced “zeen”
A zine is a self-published, non-commercial print-work that is typically produced in small, limited batches. Zines are traditionally easily reproduced — often by crafting an original “master flat,” and then photocopying, folding, and stapling the pages into simple pamphlets. “Zinesters,” are likely to be more motivated by self-expression and artistic passion than by profit: zines are usually inexpensive and sometimes distributed for free or in trade for other zines, goods, and services.
