Le Rouvray

In the July-August 1994 edition of Quilter’s Newsletter Magazine, I read about Diane de Obaldia and her Le Rouvray quit shop located in Paris, France. The shop, situated at 3, Rue de la Buchiere which is right across from Notre Dame Cathedral, contained fabrics and antiques. The shop is now closed, but the Website still exists (July 2024): http://www.lerouvray.com/index.html  I also discovered her book, Le Rouvray, published by That Patchwork Place, Inc. (ISBN #1-56477-066-4)

In August 2007 my husband Bob and I traveled via Eurail across Europe for 7 weeks and made a point of planning time to visit the shop while in Paris. I was fortunate that Diane was in the shop during our visit and we had a lovely visit. Because we were traveling with only one roll on bag and one back pack each, I had to limit my purchases. I bought a package of 30, 15 x 15 cm (5.9“) squares. I cut the squares down to 5” to make this clamshell wall hanging. I used all but 2 of the squares that were in the package, 1 of which was a repeat.
