Artist's Statement:

The word Silhouette is synonymous with figural side views. Etienne de Silhouette, the originator of the silhouette would be proud to know how long his influence has continued. Like every good tradition, the twenty years of Quilt Alliance has influenced many and given a new name to quilters everywhere. I made this quilt in honor of the Quilt Alliance’s twenty years of influence with a salute to Etienne. I also note that I spelled his last name Sillouhette because I could not get the song “alouette Jaunte aloutee” out of my head and initially thought about naming it Venti Sillouhette…hence the “mis”spelling of the last name.
