Essay:

The quilt was started by Louise Chapman. When she left for Africa as a missionary in 1941, she left all her quilt work with Evelyn Walker, a close friend. The top was then given to Sharon Sterk, daughter of Evelyn Walker. Sharon Sterk then added the border and commissioned it to be machined quilted.

The butterflies come in an assortment of different sizes. There is also embroidery done in some of the butterflies. It is a striking display of different patterns of butterflies.
