Claire Vlasin's quilt groups and friendships

Claire was a member of the Capitol City Quilt Guild. The CCQG is large guild of over 200 members. Along with monthly meetings the guild sponsors many small groups. These groups are often held in private homes and limited to the number of people that can fit in the venue. Activities of these groups include fabric swaps, quilt challenges, pot lucks, and show and tells. The smaller size of these groups fosters deep friendships. Claire belonged to a few smaller groups. Members of these groups helped her when she gave lectures or needed help with a quilt. When Claire passed, they mounted a special display of quilts for the visitation and service and acted as honorary pallbearers.

They also helped Ray sort through Claire's quilts, unfinished projects and fabric and set-up the garage sale that helped fund the Quilt Preservation Fund.

The Scrap Fever was a group that Claire cherished. They swapped fabrics, shared patterns, and showed their quilts for many years, offering advise and encouragement for many quilts.
