The most thickly populated city of Italy and capital of the province of Naples, is located on the north side of the Bay of Naples, at the foot of Vesuvius, 118 miles south-east of Rome. It was founded by the Greeks some six centuries B. C. It is in the near vicinity of the old historic cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, and is famous for its beauty of situation, its bay, and its women. The picture represents a Neapolitan woman in the provincial dress using our Singer Machine in corset manufacture. Both the family and manufacturing Singers are used very extensively in Naples and throughout Italy.
