Horoscope Quilt Pattern, No. 4

Taurus Apr. 21 to May 21

Now you probably have one whole block finished. In the center is the square on which you have appliqued the Aries sign. Around that are the four strips on which you have embroidered Aries characteristics. And in each corner you have applique a blue star.

Now let's plan to put another large square together before doing anything with the connecting strips.

The ancients believed the arrangement of stars which are riding high in the heaven during the last of what we now know as April and the greater part of May looked like the determined and sometimes stubborn bull. Their name for the animal was Taurus.

The legend has grown up that the favorite color of the people born during the period between April 21 and May 21 is soft rose or pale blue. With that in mind, I would suggest a color scheme for this block. In fact, I will suggest two. You may have another in mind.

The quilt has been planned with 12 six-inch blocks of blue on which the zodiac sign is appliqued in white or white ground figured material I would suggest that the zodiac sign, that is - the one given today, be appliqued on blue in a fast color print having small figures in blue or rose. The embroidery would still be done in white.

You will know what to do with the pattern leaflet this week, for it is transferred, appliqued and etched or chain-stitched in the same way as pattern No. 1.

Next week you will get the four characteristics to be place in the rectangles around the center block.
