Letter C Quilt-block

May 1906
Wilene Smith Legacy Project
Augusta, Maine, United States
One of eleven alphabet letters published in the Vickery and Hill papers, June 1905 -- April 1907. "Still another of the letters, designed for an "Initial Quilt," the blocks being made from pieces of friends' dresses, and the first letter of the owner's name pieced, with the initials worked in the largest space. Cut strips for the border two inches wide, omitting border on every other block, thus making the border do for joining and the quilt entirely of pieced work. For a regular "Alphabet Quilt," which is a great help to the little folks in learning their letters, it is a good plan to join the blocks with alternating white squares. Busybody. Erie, Kans."
