Diamond Star Quilt Block

June 1901
Wilene Smith Legacy Project
Augusta, Maine, United States
"Pieced in two colors, dark and light, this is a showy pattern, and easily put together. Odds and ends of print or gingham may be used, although--as is the case with every pattern--it is much prettier if made of blue and white, red and white, pink and green, or similar colors, using but two for the quilt. It may be all of pieced work, or set with plain blocks or strips of the light, as preferred. Mrs. S. D. Jeffersonville, Ohio." Contributor's note: No. 35 in the Clara Stone catalog introduced May 1906, a selection of 188 designs published 1897-1905; first published with the same name in Ohio Farmer (Lawrence Brothers, Cleveland, OH), August 27, 1896.
