A pattern for an animal quilt described by Elisabeth May Blondel.
The "Patchy Zoo" by Elisabeth May Blondel
1988
No. 1988. Bed time is much more welcome when an interesting "story" quilt decorated the crib or bed. And, animal quilts are always favorites with the small occupants of the nursery. A "Patchy Zoo" quilt makes a most amusing coverlet with the queer creatures -- feathered fowls and awkward animals and letters -- patched from bright scraps of material. It's just the sort of quilt any youngster would love. And the stories you can originate around such amusing animals are endless. Many nimbler-fingered mothers patch such quilts themselves using gay colored scraps on blocks about 12 ins. square with alternate alphabet block. Designer, G. Selma Sauer.

No. 1989. Cunning little pillows to match a quilt -- in this case a caged bear, elephant and "Patchy Gus" -- are among the most delightful new ideas advanced for nurseries. These little figures are also patched from gay scraps of material and mounted on bright colored pillows, usually about 12 inches square. Young naturalists will adore such amusing sets.

Patterns may be bought from all McCall dealers, or by mail, postage prepaid, from The McCall Company, McCall Street, Dayton, Ohio, at prices and sizes listed on page 132.
