Rose Allen

Rose feels quilting is a way to express feelings and cultivate friendships. She has been active in Minnesota Quilters having leadership roles and is a past president of Contemporary Quilters where she also maintains membership. Rose’s first quilt was hand pieced, blue and white, and made in the late 1990’s. She started out using traditional quilt designs but has transitioned into the modern style preferring visual improvisation as her design method of choice because she likes to use geometric shapes. Rose is pictured with a favorite quilt, “Many Moons.” A quilting teacher, Rose encourages beginners to pull from the past and then go into the future. She feels modern quilts foreshadow artwork. There are many schools of design and many ways to embellish one’s work.
