Grandma Makes Scottie Quilt
Here is Mrs. John E. Adams of South Rockwood with her grand-daughter Nancy Jane Eason for whom she made this gay Scottie which is in brown and yellow with gay prints for the sweaters on the Scotties.

Cornerites Attend Meeting In Spite of Bad Weather
By Edith B. Crumb
Quilt Club Corner Editor, The Detroit News

In spite of disagreeable weather and a street car strike, the quilt-makers gathered in the exhibition room of WWJ- The Detroit News as usual on Friday and Mrs. Venus Bell and Mrs. Oscar Miller even came all the way from Birmingham to visit with us. Mrs. Minnie Russel, of Richmond, Mich., couldn't get any further than Gratiot and Seven Mile road but called us up to say hello. She is very anxious to receive the pattern for the Overall Boy and says that if anyone will be kind enough to loan it to her she will be careful of it and return the postage required for it.

Mrs. John E. Adams came from Rockwood with a quilt she has just finished for her 8-year-old grand-daughter, Nancy Jane Eason, 2471 Lothrop avenue, Detroit. Nancy came down to the meeting and met her grandmother, so we thought it was a good idea to take their picture with the quilt.

The background of the quilt is yellow, the border plain brown and the Scottie is made of a brown and white print which looks fuzzy - but isn't - and each Scottie has a different colored sweater. Their whiskers and eyes are embroidered.

There are 30 Scotties and 30 yellow blocks in the whole quilt and it only took Mrs. Adams about six weeks to make it. The Scotties are very lively looking little dogs some going in one direction and some in another.

We had three little girls at the meeting yesterday. Mrs. Lettie McIntyre, of Farmington, brought her youngest daughter, Glenna, and two of her friends - Alice Ferrante and Geraldine Fifoot. Alice and Geraldine live in Detroit but they belong to a little girls' club and when all of the little girls come down to the Quilt Club meeting together we will take their picture while they are sewing on their quilts.

Alice and Glenna are 12 years old and Geraldine is 11 - just had a birthday on Feb. 13.

Mrs. Ted Taylor asked me to say many thanks for the stacks of postal cards she received for her birthday. She was just swamped with them.

And speaking of birthdays, just had a card from Mrs. Fred Copwer, written from Wyandotte General Hospital. She says that on Sunday April 3, Carol Louise was born. She weighed six pounds and Mrs. Cowper would love to hear from all of her friends and would be delighted to have them come and call on her. Her home address is 1164 White Street, Lincoln Park, so if you want to send either Mrs. Cowper or Carol Louise a card, I am sure Mrs. Cowper will be glad to see that they are taken to the hospital.

From Columbus, South Carolina, comes a card signed by Mrs. Clara Smith and Mrs. Allie Johnson, both of Plymouth. They are having a nice southern trip but haven't forgetting you and have sent their best regards to everyone. They hope to see us soon.

Mrs. F. J. Walker, who offered pieces already cut for a Stepping Stone quilt wrote a little note to us to say that she had so many requests for them that she divided them between two quilt makers - Mrs. Sylvia Carlen and Miss Agness Posen. She was sorry she didn't have more. She expects to start another quilt soon and will save the scraps from it. She wonders if anyone has a pretty pattern to send to her. She has sent out several patterns for her Stepping Stone quilt as several sent her postage and requested the pattern only.

Mrs. Addie Vincent, 6850 Adams Road, R. No. 2, Birmingham, is very anxious to have the pattern for the Trip Around the World. If any one of these, will she be kind enough to loan it to Mrs. Vincent? I am sure she will be very grateful for this favor and be careful to return it promptly.
