Most likely a traveling photographer took this young child's photograph against a Log Cabin quilt backdrop. This Log Cabin quilt appears to be constructed in mostly plain fabrics, and the quiltmaker chose an irregular placement of light and dark logs. Another unusual feature is it is hand-quilted in diagonal rows across the surface, regardless of the seam lines created in the block construction. This quilt's diagonal quilting has created a very interesting visual effect.
