Real Photo Postcard (RPPC) c. 1914-1918

Size: 3.5" x 5.5"

Relaxed and playing a game of Skat are German World War I soldiers. Written on the postcard's verso is the word "Skat," an early nineteenth century trick-taking card game devised in Germany. The quilt is composed of two quite different blocks that alternate. The first block is composed of four Log Cabin blocks (note the light and dark half) set into what is called a Chimney and Cornerstone set. The second block is composed of four blocks commonly called Square in a Square.
