Gift of Friendship Quilt Makes Member Happy
By The Quilt Club Editor

Those of you who make blocks for the Friendship Quilt, which will be given to May Mancuse, 1822 Division street, will be interested in the letter which was received from her. She says:
"Dear Miss Crumb- and all Cornerites: I just had to write and tell you how pleased and proud I am of my beautiful friendship quilt.

"To me it was so thrilling when I asked Mrs. Ridler whose quilt was going on the frames last Friday to hear her say "Why yours, May. How do you like it?"

"I could hardly answer and maybe she thought I was not pleased, but my heart was too full of gratitude to be able to speak.

"I am afraid that I never can thank all of the Quilt Club friends are doing for me."

Mrs. Lettie McIntyre, 21013 South Farmington road, Farmington, has written a note to say she thought the display of beautiful needlework and clever ideas at The News Quilt Show was grand.

She thought the red and white quilt made for me by the Quilt Club Sisters was a lovely tribute and a precious keepsake as a reminder of the first quilt show which was responsible for their reunion.

She thought the first prize quilt was a beautiful piece of hand work and says she stands in awe of the talent that can be expressed with needles, thread, two hands, and a vision.

She has been very busy answering notes and sending patterns of her Carillon quilt.

Mrs. Mildred Kalvin, 236 West Clarkston road, Lake Orion, who wanted someone to teach her to quilt says three quilters answered her plea for assistance and their letters were so friendly and considerate that from now on there is a determination within her to become a quilter to the best of her ability if only to justify their kindness to her.

Mrs. Anna Urbany was the first to offer aid and now Mrs. Kalvin is working on an Irish Chain quilt from a design given her by Mrs. Urbany.

Mrs. Sylvia Carlen was the second to write and suggest patterns and the third was a quilter from Pontiac who has had 40 years experience as a quilter and says she uses the same frames that she had 40 years ago.

Mrs. J. C. Weber, ??? Ma?? street, wishes to make a Nosegay quilt but this pattern has been discontinued. Is there someone who would be kind enough to loan these designs to Mrs. Weber? She would be so grateful for this and I am sure would return them as quickly as possible.

Mrs. Pearl Price, R. No. 1, Willis, Mich., writes to say that she enjoyed the Quilt Show very much. She wishes she could have stayed longer but it was not possible. She would like to exchange patches with quilters.
