Makes Entire Quilt While Convalescing

Autographed Blocks
Mrs. Leah White, 1373 Dougall avenue, Windsor, Ontario, made this friendship during a seven weeks' convalescence and brought it to the Quilt Club meeting yesterday. It is of printed material and white squares put together with turkey red percale. Her friends have autographed the white blocks.

Convalescing from an operation for seven weeks didn't interfere with Mrs. Leah White's sewing. Just to show us how she put in her time Mrs. Leah White's sewing. Just to show us how she put in her time Mrs. White, 1373 Dougall avenue, Windsor, brought to the Quilt club Corner meeting yesterday a friendship quilt she made from start to finish.

The blocks are made up of prints and plain white material - the latter containing the names of her friends and their birthplaces. All of these friends reside in Windsor so it was a simple matter to get their autographs.

The blocks are set together with turkey red percale, which was also used for the back of the quilt. The quilting is done in white. Mrs. White was fortunate in having the assistance of the Scout Mothers of Troop No. 9 in doing this part of the quilt.

She says she received 85 cards and letters while she was ill and was very grateful for these cheery messages which did so much to make her happy during her recovery.

Mrs. Margaret Zisler, 4199 Burns avenue, who has not been to a Corner meeting for two years, surprised us yesterday by dropping in for the afternoon.

She is making a Postage Stamp quilt and hopes to have the top of this, as well as a couple of other quilts and a crocheted spread entered in the quilt show.

Mrs. Joanna Koneman, 17290 Goulburn avenue, became a Quilt Club member yesterday and so did Mrs. F. E. Simmons, 2185 Garland avenue. Mrs. Simmons said she had read everything in the quilting department for years and decided that we must have a lot of fun and thought she ought to come down and join us.

We hope she enjoyed herself and will be here every Friday afternoon. We also hope that Mrs. Koneman will join us every week.

Mrs. Ray Taylor handed in the name of a friend for membership - Mrs. Eva Elkei, Box 193, Steger Ill. She and Mrs. Taylor were friends long ago in Des Moines, Ia., and both are still interested in quilt-making. We are sorry Mrs. Elkei does not live near enough to be with us every Friday afternoon.
