Mary and Her Lamb
You may work this out in an etching stitch in red, blue, green or any plain color; or you may make the whole block in applique.
Mary's lamb should be soft and woolly and French knots of white fine wool would create this effect if made very close together. Mary may have yellow or light brown hair with a pink ribbon on it and her sunbonnet may be blue checked gingham, her dress being of pink ground flowered percale. All of these may be appliqued.
Her shoes may be embroidered solid in black. The signpost may be appliqued of light brown bias tape and embroidered in black.
You may make this design in a combination of applique and etching or embroidery if you wish.
