Claire devoted time to mastering quiltmaking. She loved taking classes and learning new techniques. She in turn, taught others.
She studied quilt history and belonged to the American Quilt Study Group. As a graduate of the University of Nebraska, a trip to the International Quilt Study Center & Museum was a highlight of her quilt studies.
Claire had many of her quilts appraised.
She had great respect for appraisers and took quilt appraisal courses from the American Quilters Society. Quilts are appraised for their value and for Claire, having quilts appraised was a way to learn more about them.
