PEACEFUL HOURS
(12" square)
#1 4 Dark, 4 Light
#2, 4 Light
#3 8 Dark (4 of the 8 to be reversed)
#4 4 Light
#5 4 Light
For the prettiest effect in this quilt, the colors should be reversed in alternate blocks.
In making this block be sure to reverse the pattern when cutting 4 of the pieces of No. 3. It is very easy to become confused about putting these pieces in place. It is recommended that you lay out a whole block before sewing any of it together.
Pieces #1 and #2 are close to the same size. Watch this in putting block together. Also pieces #4 and #5 are close to the same size. Watch this.
A quilt 72" x 84" will require 42 blocks. For 42 blocks the following material will be required: 5 yards Light
5 yards Dark
Peaceful Hours - Page 2
#6 1 Dark

For accuracy in piecing the block, cut from cardboard a pattern the actual size of the piece when seams are off. This will be the space inside the dotted lines. On each piece of material mark on wrong side with a pencil around this cardboard pattern, emphasizing the points at corners. The points of each two pieces which are to be sewed together should be matched accurately and pinned. The seam will be taken where the pencil mark is shown.
