An article on patriotic quilting.
Fashion Favors Quilting
Quilting is fashion's favorite this fall. And patriotically speaking, this fasion has been revived to create warmth without wool for civilian use.

Almost any article of clothing takes smartly to quilting, and home sewers are urged to put their Yankee ingenuity to work for the sake of aiding the war effort.

If you have never used the quilting attachment to your sewing machine, now is the time to begin. And should its workings appear somewhat tricky to you, you may get instructions at your local sewing center.

Even though quilted garments appear rather bulky, fitting is important. One of the new dress forms, moulded to the exact measurements of your figure, is a great aid to perfect fitting.

A smart trick to insulate you against wintry winds is to stitch up a pair of quilted sleeves for a plain jacket that's worn under your coat. Or try a toasty warm quilted lining for your last year's winter coat. You can be assured of staying warm indoors too, if you stitch up a winter cotton quilted housecoat.
