Smart Gifts Specialty of Shop
This all-white lamp with glazed pottery base and opaque plastic shade is priced at $17.50. It was found in a recently opened shop which features antique and now gifts and accessories.

A white lamp is one of those good mixers which is such a delightful addition to a room where soft tints predominate, and just such a lamp has arrived recently here in Detroit.

The base is white glazed pottery with a delicate tracery of gold around the bottom. The shade is white, dull finish, opaque plastic and the smartly tied bow is chartreuse velvet. The best of all its points is its price, $17.50.

This lamp was found in a shop just recently opened by a woman who has amply proved her ability to select gifts and accessories for those who wish their homes to show discriminating taste and yet do not wish to pay excessive prices.

Among the many interesting articles in this shop are included a small amount of antique early American pattern glassware (honey dishes, compotes, covered sugar bowls and celery dishes) - matches which give off a pleasing fragrance when lighted (ranging in price from 25c a package of books to a large box at 75c) - tissue-thin Chinese plates in gold medallion design (just right for a mantel ornament) - a large black tray with Chippendale border and hand-painted floral decoration, including a bit of mother-of-pearl, priced at $50 and just right for the 18th century room.

For $10 is a charming white tray with Pennsylvania Dutch decorations by Helen Hume - a set of dishes for a breakfast tray (white with moss rose decorations) - small boxes with brocade covers decorated with an ivory painted inset, large enough for two packages of cigarets or playing cards - and of unusual interest is the set of salad fork and spoon carved from bone with solid silver ferrules, priced at $8.50.
