Floor Plan Shows Good Arrangement of Windows
May Have Room on Second Floor

This shows Detroit News house plan No. SPP-9, designed by A. Burton Provost. It is for a one-floor house with full basement and has sufficient space on the second floor for a large room and closets to be finished as a future project. A lot at least 50 feet wide should be selected for this house.

This week's house design which was executed by A. Burton Provost and is Detroit News plan No. SPP-9.

The designer has planned this house for a maximum of convenience and, economy of construction for the family of limited funds.

Even though the house is small (only 26 ft. 8 in. deep and 35 ft. 4 in. wide), it has much to offer that might not be found in a larger house.

First of all, there is a center entrance hall, which makes it possible to enter all rooms without going through the living room and this hall is protected by a vestibule.

Furniture Arrangment
The living room, which is 17 ft. by 13 ft. has one solid wall space and another generous one as well as spaces each side of the window at the side. Placing of furniture to make the room attractive would not be difficult in this house.

The door between the living and hall is sliding type which is an aid in preserving wall space.

The dining area is a part of the kitchen plan and since this room is 14 ft. 6 inches in length and the working section laid out in an "L" shape, table and chairs would not make the room crowded.

Cross-Ventilation
Each bedroom, which has cross-ventilation, has a large closet and there are two linen closets; both opening off the hall, one between the bedrooms and the other next to the bathroom. There is a large closet and there are two linen closets; both opening off the hall, one between the bedrooms and the other next to the bathroom. There is a large coat closet in the hall near the stairs and another one off the kitchen at the landing of the stairs to the basement.

On the second floor there is sufficient space to finish one large bedroom with double closets and include two closets at the head of the stairs. One of these may be lined with cedar.

Large storage spaces are provided on the second floor, also, but the finishing of this part of the house may be a future project at a time when the purse will permit a little additional spending.
